Terms of Use
Last updated August 26, 2026
The short version
Am I Accessible is an automated scanning tool, not a legal audit and not legal advice. A passing score does not mean a website is legally compliant with the ADA, WCAG, Section 508, or any other law or regulation, and a low score does not by itself mean a website is non-compliant. You are solely responsible for your own compliance decisions. Use this tool at your own risk, and see the full disclaimer and limitation of liability below before relying on any result.
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Am I Accessible (the "Service"), operated by Chenango Web Design LLC ("we," "us," "our"). By creating an account, submitting a URL for scanning, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What the Service does
The Service accepts a URL you submit and runs automated checks against a subset of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 success criteria, returning a score and a list of potential issues. Some checks inspect the page's HTML directly; others render the page in a headless browser to evaluate things like color contrast. The Service does not perform a full manual accessibility audit and does not evaluate every WCAG success criterion.
2. No guarantee of compliance; not legal advice
Automated accessibility scanning has well-known limitations: it cannot fully evaluate things like logical reading order, the accuracy of alternative text, keyboard-trap behavior in complex widgets, or content that only appears after user interaction, and different scanning tools will produce different results on the same page. Accordingly:
- Results are provided for informational purposes only and are not a certification, warranty, or guarantee of legal compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508, WCAG, or any state, local, or international law or regulation.
- A high score does not mean your website is free of accessibility barriers or legal risk. A low score does not mean your website violates any law.
- Nothing on this Service constitutes legal advice. You should consult a qualified attorney and, where appropriate, a qualified accessibility professional before making compliance decisions or public compliance claims.
3. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Chenango Web Design LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service — including any legal claim, judgment, fine, or settlement related to accessibility compliance — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or (b) one hundred dollars ($100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations on liability, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
4. Accounts
You're responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Provide accurate information when registering. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
5. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Service only to scan websites you own, operate, or otherwise have authorization to test. You agree not to use the Service to: attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to any website or system, including through the URLs you submit; scrape, resell, or systematically extract Service data at scale without our written permission; or use the Service for any unlawful purpose. We may rate-limit or block usage that we reasonably believe is abusive.
6. Scans of third-party websites
When you submit a URL, we fetch and, for some checks, render that page to generate your report. We are not responsible for the content, availability, or conduct of any third-party website you submit, and submitting a URL does not give you any rights in that website. You represent that you have the right to request a scan of any URL you submit.
7. Paid plans and billing
Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring monthly basis through our payment processor, Stripe, at the price shown at checkout. You may cancel at any time from your account; cancellation stops future billing but we do not provide prorated refunds for the current billing period unless required by law. We may change subscription pricing on a going-forward basis with reasonable notice. Free ADA compliance consulting offered as part of a paid plan is provided by Chenango Web Design LLC on a reasonable-effort, request-driven basis and is not itself a guarantee of legal compliance — see Sections 2 and 3 above.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, its design, and its underlying software are owned by Chenango Web Design LLC and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You retain any rights you have in the websites and content you submit for scanning.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, with or without notice, for conduct that violates these Terms or that we believe is harmful to other users, the Service, or third parties.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
