Frequently asked questions
How much does Am I Accessible cost?
Checking a site is free — one scan a day without an account, or 10 scans a day with a free account. The paid plan is $1/mo and adds scheduled monitoring, a higher per-scan page limit, and free ADA consulting on request.
Do I need an account to check a website?
No. You can run one free check per day without creating an account. Creating a free account raises that to 10 checks a day and saves your scan history to a dashboard.
How many pages does a scan check?
Free accounts crawl up to 10 pages per scan; paid accounts crawl up to 100 pages per scan. We discover pages from your sitemap first, falling back to crawling links from your homepage.
What does the checker actually test for?
We test against WCAG 2.1 Level AA success criteria — the standard named in the DOJ's Title II rule — including missing alt text, color contrast, unlabeled form fields, heading structure, and page titles. See our full list of WCAG success criteria for details.
Does a passing report mean my site is legally ADA compliant?
No. Automated testing catches a large share of common issues, but no automated tool can fully verify WCAG conformance — some criteria require human judgment (like whether alt text is actually meaningful, not just present). Treat a passing report as a strong signal, not a legal guarantee, and consult your legal counsel or ADA coordinator for a compliance determination.
What is my compliance deadline?
Under the DOJ's 2024 Title II rule, small public entities serving fewer than 50,000 people have until April 26, 2027. Larger entities have an earlier deadline. See our state and federal requirements page for the specifics.
Can I export a report as a PDF?
Yes — every scan report has a "Download PDF" option so you can share results with staff, vendors, or elected officials who don't need dashboard access.
How do I request free ADA consulting?
Paid plan customers can request free consulting from Chenango Web Design LLC at any time from the consulting page. We'll follow up to talk through your specific findings and next steps.
